Oh what a beautiful morning … April 16 2011, 18 brave souls fought the cold spring air to volunteer for the 1st Annual West Barnstable Civic Association Spring Cleanup.  The event was a huge success.  The volunteers collected over 25 extra large trash bags filled with all kinds of rubbish from paint cans, soda cans, sheet rock, food bags, etc.  Also recovered was what looked to be a woman’s stolen purse.  Several hubcaps and tires were removed from the side of the roads as well.   It was truly rewarding to see all that trash placed in the dumpster and removed from our beautiful village.   Will we do it again next year?  You bet!  Thank you to all the volunteers;  Barbara Cappellina, Jennifer Mullin, Dierdre Mullin, Hank Farnham, Doug Hempel, Jacob Hempel, Tyler Hempel, Kris Clark, Skip Simpson, Kevin Simpson, Kara Simpson, Jessie Beynor, Jackie Beynor, Maxine Beynor, Katrina Hannagan, Stephen Hannagan, Jane Manzelli and Fran Manzelli.  A special thank you to Bob Lovell from Barnstable DPW for providing the trash bags, gloves and most of all the shiny red dumpster.
